The SUNY Buffalo School of Informatics will conduct a follow-up of a 2000 national baseline survey of public use of the Internet and the public library to document the changes that have occurred in the consumer markets for the Internet and the public library, the impacts of Internet use on the library, and any trends in the data that would suggest how the relationship between the Internet and the public library might be evolving and how public libraries could adjust to these trends. The researchers will also conduct a complementary national survey to investigate why public library users who have Internet access at home continue to use the library for information.
