In partnership with the Public Library Association, OCLC proposes a National Leadership Grant to support public libraries considering their response to the opioid crisis in their community. The project will produce case studies of eight varied communities in which the public library is directly involved in a community response to the opioid epidemic; and will glean additional perspectives from federal government agencies, public health and human services organizations, community organizations, and library leaders. The case study research, cross-sector input, and the consultation of advisors will then inform a call-to-action white paper. The project partners will gather and share resources from inside and outside the library sector, and host a series of webinars to disseminate the information. The project will help public libraries and community partners develop effective strategies and community-driven coalitions that work together to address substance misuse in America.
