Great Plains Art Museum

The Great Plains Art Museum will conduct a conservation survey of 200 high-risk works on paper dating from the 1800s through the 2000s. This project directly responds to findings from the museum’s 2024 Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) grant, which identified the collection as a priority area requiring object-level evaluation. A professional conservator will conduct on-site assessments, produce condition reports, and provide prioritized treatment recommendations and cost estimates for 10 critical-condition works. The survey will also support educational engagement by hosting up to three class visits and a public program that highlights the science of conservation and the importance of preservation for cultural heritage. This project will significantly enhance the care, stability, accessibility, and future exhibition potential of the museum's works on paper.
