Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory

Log Number: IGSM-259535-OMS-26

The Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory, in collaboration with local community organizations, will provide opportunities to educate the public on the importance of preserving the dark skies in the Adirondacks. This project will result in the planning and creation of a dark sky exhibit, sky quality surveys, and public outreach on curtailing light pollution. Programming will focus on Tupper Lake and surrounding villages and will serve as a model for other communities looking to decrease their light pollution. Results will demonstrate a strong commitment to night sky protection measured by successive sky surveys and foster a greater appreciation for our areas’ great natural beauty. The primary beneficiaries will include the public, students, and animals that benefit from darker skies.
