Pensacola MESS Hall

Log Number: IGSM-256085-OMS-24

The Pensacola MESS Hall will create and deliver hands-on science lessons for sixth-grade students and provide training to teachers. MESS Hall will initially focus on two schools that are transitioning sixth-grade classrooms to elementary schools as part of a pilot program. Partnering with the Escambia County School District, MESS Hall will develop lessons for all seven science modules covered in the sixth-grade pacing guide. Staff will develop and purchase materials for lessons and create and conduct evening teacher training sessions. The project will result in hands-on, open-ended instruction integrated with school curriculum to advance science proficiency and support teachers during this transition. The project is designed to initially benefit the students directly participating in the museum-led programs. A larger impact is expected from training teachers to deliver these activities beyond the program period.
