Northwestern Michigan College (Dennos Museum Center)

Log Number: IGSM-255596-OMS-24

The Dennos Museum Center, on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College, will purchase powder-coated art storage bins to improve preservation and access to approximately 225 framed works of art in its collection. Informed by a 2022 Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) report, museum staff will replace non-archival particleboard painting bins with new archival units. The museum purchased and installed two of the units as a trial, and this project will enable the purchase of additional units and interleaving material to house the entire framed art collection with room for expansion. The new adjustable art storage bins will provide improved storage and mitigate damage to works of art when accessing them for students, faculty, staff, researchers, and exhibitions.
