La Casa del Libro Book Museum
Log Number: IGSM-253553-OMS-23
La Casa del Libro Book Museum will launch an exhibition series and related programming to reach existing and new audiences that were adversely affected by catastrophic weather events and, more recently, the pandemic. Community input gathered during post-COVID events has shown that visitors, particularly students and seniors, are interested in accessing in-person opportunities to learn about the museum collection. This project will involve hiring a part-time Educational Program Coordinator to assist museum staff with rebuilding in-person programs to pre-pandemic levels. Project activities will include presenting three exhibitions, hosting eight in-person forums, and scheduling 12 ARTLab workshops. In addition, this project will include planning for the museum to host an exhibition celebrating Puerto Rican afro-descendant artists in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary and Multicultural Institute at the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras. As a result, the museum will be better positioned carry out its mission and will build relationships with its community partners.
