Shelton McMurphey Johnson House
Log Number: IGSM-253487-OMS-23
The Shelton McMurphey Johnson House will increase museum staff capacity to offer family and youth education programs, and conduct outreach activities targeted to 4th grade students in rural communities further than 10 miles from the museum or at low-income schools within the Eugene/Springfield metro area. The project will support a new position for a part-time Family and Youth Education Coordinator to lead existing educational programming and grow museum offerings to reach children and families in Lane County. The Education Coordinator’s primary duties will include developing curriculum, managing programs, launching a series of onsite camps, conducting outreach, and sharing the museum’s resources beyond the property boundaries. As a result, the museum will have an expanded portfolio of educational resources to make available to the residents of Eugene and the surrounding area.
