Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco
Log Number: IGSM-253484-OMS-23
Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco will expand the pilot project, "41 Ross Artist-in-Residence," located at the center's offsite storefront alleyway project space in San Francisco's Chinatown. Project activities will include selecting three artists for three-month residencies, organizing public programs, and offering participatory open studios and free workshops. Center staff will match selected artists with a mentor, and provide support throughout the residency including access to marketing and outreach channels, translation services, and video documentation. Community members living and working in Chinatown will be the target audience, many of whom are new immigrants, working class, low income, youth, and seniors. The project will address the existing and emergent structural issues facing Chinatown and Asian American constituents today, such as anti-Asian hate, lack of cultural resources, and the need to shift dominant narratives.
