Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recreation Corporation (Gaithersburg Community Museum)

The Gaithersburg Community Museum will build on the City’s Gaithersburg History Project by developing an interpretative framework for communicating the stories of groups that comprise Gaithersburg’s culturally-diverse community with a focus on Black and Latinx residents. Project activities will include assessing shared and potential resources, hiring a project manager and an interpretive planner, and developing interpretative products for each identified cultural group. The project will result in a comprehensive interpretative plan with a suite of educational resources including traveling exhibits, digital storytelling, and educational and community outreach programs. Museum visitors and local officials will be better able to connect with the residents of Gaithersburg by learning about their stories and challenges.
