City of Roseville (Maidu Museum and Historic Site)

The Maidu Museum and Historic Site will provide a platform for local Native Americans to share their perspective, traditions, and contemporary culture with the greater Sacramento region by reviving the Night Out at the Museum program. In collaboration with the Native Advisory Committee, museum staff will develop free monthly programs featuring local Native artists, authors, culture bearers, and scholars, and review submitted proposals from Native artists to co-curate three exhibits. The project will improve the community’s cultural literacy regarding local Indigenous cultures by encouraging civil discourse among all community members and creating a safe and welcoming space for respectful public discussion. To measure the successful achievement of these goals, surveys will be collected after each Night Out program and from art exhibits visitors to gather both qualitative and quantitative data.
