Western Kentucky University (Kentucky Museum)

The Kentucky Museum will complete the rehousing of its Historic Quilt Collection to improve stewardship of and access to the collection. To do so, this project will rehouse 126 quilts that are currently stored on rolled tubes and provide an additional 39 boxes to enable rehousing of quilts in boxes that are currently overcrowded. The rehoused quilts will then be stored on twelve new mobile shelving units, capable of holding up to 14 boxes each. Intended results include safe housing for the quilts which will facilitate easier access to the collections for staff and researchers. Project activities and results will also be shared through press releases, social media posts, and the museum’s newsletter.
