Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways Museum

The Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways Museum will develop and implement a two-year interpretive training program for museum staff and volunteers that is grounded in inquiry and object-based learning. Project activities include conducting training modules on costumed interpretations, interpretive techniques, research methodology, and successful ways to handle difficult topics and situations. The project will involve engaging two museum consultants who will produce training materials, deliver training sessions, and conduct training evaluations to document training effectiveness. This project will result in staff and volunteer docents who are better equipped to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration skills, and an attitude of discovery in museum audiences.
