Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum

Log Number: IGSM-252824-OMS-23

The Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home and Museum will increase accessibility for visitors with vision impairment or low vision in the permanent exhibition space by adding two tactile images. The tactile images will allow guests to experience a two dimensional object through touch, such as feeling the texture of a fabric in a photo or the lay of the land in a map, as well as contain sensory points that trigger audio clips in English or Spanish. Project activities will include translating the audio into Spanish, fabricating and testing the tactile images, and installing in the galleries. All visitors to the museum will benefit through access to a multisensory component of the permanent exhibition.
