Log Number: IGSM-251993-OMS-22

The Art Museum of Southeast Texas will catalog and digitize the John G. Fairey Collection of Mexican Folk Art, a collection of approximately 546 objects by regional and folk artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. This project builds on a previous IMLS award that created 4.600 images of 474 objects in the collection. The museum will contract with a registrar, photographer, and data manager to perform project activities, which will include accessioning, photographing, and digitizing 72 new artworks into the collection. With the completion of this work, the entire Mexican folk art collection will be accessible to virtual visitors and researchers through the museum’s online database.
