Canton Museum of Art

Canton Museum of Art will continue and enhance its Museum To Go program, which provides free, virtual exhibit tours and multidisciplinary hands-on art lessons to fourth and sixth-grade students in Stark County, Ohio. The museum will enhance the program based on teacher feedback and partner with the Canton City School District to ensure its reach to public schools in economically disadvantaged areas where in-school art programs are rare. Lessons will include a virtual 360-degree tour of the museum’s Permanent Collection exhibit. Class discussions will center on key artworks, exploring how they correlate to cross-curricular content through interactive activities and hands-on art-making experiences. The progam is based on state curriculum standards in language arts, math, social studies, science, and visual art and will provide 4,400 students with transferable problem-solving skills, real-world connections to school assignments, and increased engagement in the arts.
