Key West Art and Historical Society

The Key West Art and Historical Society will implement a professional conservation assessment of its collection of metal sculptures by folk artist Stanley Papio. The museum will contract with conservators and conservation technicians, who will travel to the museum to photograph and assess the condition of 100 sculptures, identify treatment priorities, estimate treatment costs, and prepare individual reports for each work. The conservation team will provide an assessment report and treatment plan for the collection that addresses steps to be taken to conserve the works in storage and on display, including mounting and storage recommendations. The project will result in a sustainable plan for the stabilization and care of the Papio collection, and the final report will help the museum prioritize and plan for future conservation work.
