Couse-Sharp Historic Site

The Couse-Sharp Historic Site will digitize and make accessible online the approximately 11,000 at-risk and unstable cellulose nitrate negatives and 500 fragile glass plate negatives in the Couse Family Photo Collection, many of which document life in early 20th century Taos and greater northern New Mexico. The digitized images and information will be discoverable online, bringing the total number of digital images from the collection to approximately 22,000, and they will be made accessible to students, artists, scholars, and the greater Taos community. The photographs will be a critically important resource available through The Lunder Research Center for the Taos Society of Artists, a Couse Foundation initiative currently under construction and scheduled to open in mid-2021.
