Log Number: IGSM-249512-OMS-21
The Noble Maritime Collection will provide educational programming to 300 fifth through eighth grade students in local underserved communities. The project will take place in 24 sessions over the course of a school year at the museum, in the students’ classrooms, and at local shipyards in Staten Island, New York. In collaboration with six businesses from the local maritime industry and four public schools in State Island, this program aims to promote student understanding of the contemporary and historic significance of the local maritime industry. Museum educators will lead activities, including tours of the museum’s exhibitions, visits to local shipyards, and art, music, and writing projects. Each student will receive a copy of the workbook that accompanies the program, designed to build appreciation for local maritime history and heritage.
