University of Puerto Rico (Museo de Arte, Mayaguez)

The Museo de Arte, Mayaguez at the University of Puerto Rico will rehouse the paintings of Marcos Irizarry, an abstract Puerto Rican artist. The painting collection is a high conservation priority for rehousing due to the large dimensions and unique construction of the paintings and the engraving murals. Starting with the most vulnerable paper and paintings in their collection, the museum will perform professional assessments and acquire museum-quality storage furniture for conservation and safe access. Irizarry’s permanent collection includes more than 1,152 objects, paintings, works on paper, murals and 300 documents from the artist's career.
