Great American Songbook Foundation

The Great American Songbook Foundation (GASF) will increase public access to the Meredith Willson Papers by processing, inventorying, and rehousing more than 100,000 documents and 42 scrapbooks belonging to the composer, lyricist, and writer. A processing archivist will be hired to complete this work with the assistance of a graduate intern, resulting in an updated online finding aid and the creation of formal archival processing procedures for use by staff and interns. In collaboration with project partners, GASF will also produce a comprehensive digitization plan for the collection. As a result, GASF will strengthen its capacity for processing archival collections and improve the discoverability of the Meredith Willson Papers by students, music scholars, writers, and others interested in his work.
