Northern Illinois University (Center for Burma Studies)

The Center for Burma Studies at Northern Illinois University will undertake a digitization project focusing on its textile collection. The project will be divided into two stages: the first to professionally photograph the textile holdings, and the second to finish the digitization process by creating downloadable still images, updating descriptive metadata using Dublin Core, and making the eventual products freely available online. Funds will be used to hire a graduate assistant to photograph the objects and catalog them. The resulting database will increase access to the textile collection, while improving the long-term care of the objects by minimizing the need for physical contact.
