City of Moses Lake (Moses Lake Museum & Art Center)

Log Number: IGSM-248953-OMS-21

The Moses Lake Museum and Art Center will develop plans to redesign three permanent human history exhibits to address the need for a more inclusive historical narrative and Spanish-language accessibility in the museum. Project activities include updating the exhibits to tell a more complete history of the region, including elevating the previously excluded voices of Indigenous, Latinx, and other communities who have been a key part of the area history, and creating bilingual signage and materials. The project will involve engaging with consultants, scholars, and community leaders to refine and draft the new narrative and working with an exhibit design firm to draft the new plans. Outcomes will be plans for exhibits that tell a richer, more inclusive history of the region in Spanish and English that will benefit visitors to the museum including residents of Moses Lake and Grant County and tourist.
