The Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society will use grant funds to hire a consultant, who will train staff in proper rehousing techniques, and purchase two metal flat-file cabinets for its valuable ship plans collection. This unique collection spans the first half of the twentieth century, a time of major technological changes in the maritime industry in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The collection contains the development of tugboats, yachts, and auto ferries, as well as fishing vessels, and consists of approximately 7,000 drawings, representing 37 naval architects and builders, with 12 significant individual collections.
