Log Number: IC-21-11-0126-11
The Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art will restore and stabilize a site-specific wood, masonry, and metal sculpture entitled Gibson Gateway that was commissioned for the museum and is part of its outdoor sculpture garden. The restoration work will be done by the original artist, Robert Harrison, and museum staff and will address the pediment, entablature, and the granite pieces resting on the entablature. All wooden pieces of the sculpture, including the benches that are part of the environment, will be replaced, as will the wooden parts of the arches. Wooden surfaces will be sealed to add to the durability and longevity of the piece, and mortar will be replaced. Once the restoration and stabilization is complete, the roof will be reinstalled along with the original metal roofing.
