City of El Paso (El Paso Museum of History)
Log Number: IC-21-11-0026-11
The El Paso Museum of History will restore a fragile wooden door belonging to the Ysleta Mission, dating to 1680, and will display it in "The Changing Pass," a gallery that focuses on the Mission Valley. Ysleta Mission is the oldest continuously active parish in Texas and is an enduring symbol of the long, rich history of its community as well as the nations of Spain, Mexico, and the United States. The door represents"home" and connects families from both sides of the border who have claimed this territory as their own. When restored, the door will serve as a focus for regional and local history educational programs, tours, lectures, and exhibitions.
