The ethnographic collection includes ornaments, vessels, weaponry, tools, clothing, and textiles representing a range of Native American cultures. The natural history collection includes include a broad representation of mounted birds, reptiles, and mammals from around the world and the state of Michigan. Project activities will also include training for staff and volunteers in moving and rehousing the collections. When this project is completed, space will be better utilized, more efficient storage methods implemented, and the condition of the approximately 7,000 items stabilized.
