Ventura County Museum of History and Art

Log Number: IC-05-10-0243-10

The Museum of Ventura County will purchase and install compact shelving to rehouse its research library’s historical collection of books and manuscripts, images, maps, architectural plans and drawings, government documents, and other rare materials from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and beyond. The project goal is to relieve overcrowding and improve long-term care of this comprehensive and still-growing collection. Activities will include hiring a conservator to aid with training staff in surface cleaning of collections, surveying of materials for preservation or conservation needs, and a relocation plan for safely moving the collections into new facilities. Once materials are rehoused, the public will have access to materials that have previously been unavailable for use.
