Good Will Home Association

The L.C. Bates Museum will conserve 91 bird mounts and their historic cases dating to the last half of the 19th and early 20th centuries and including endangered and threatened species. An experienced conservator will work with museum staff to clean the bird mounts, reattach or resecure detached elements, replace the case glass with safety glass and reseal the cases, repair or replace wooden moldings on the cases, install a data logger to monitor environmental conditions, and add LED lighting to the cases. Project results and lessons learned about caring for organic objects will be disseminated through newsletters, public programs, a small exhibition, and a workshop for regional museums.
