Barnes Foundation

Log Number: IC-04-10-0177-10

The Barnes Foundation will use grant funds to treat 15 frames that have been identified as in critical need of conservation. The frames house major works by Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Paul Gauguin, and Henri Rousseau. The frames are integral to the artwork they support, representing historic frame styles chosen specifically for the collection by Dr. Barnes. These frames will be treated for failing joints, unstable gesso, and flaking gilding. Once treated, the frames will be reunited with the original works of art and exhibited as part of the installation in the new museum galleries.
