Washington University (Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, Washington University)

The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University will use its grant funds to conduct a detailed condition survey of its sculpture collection of 435 objects, ranging from antiquities to contemporary sculpture. The survey will provide a baseline assessment of each object and will help guide the museum's long-range plans for collections care and treatment. Detailed information about the medium, culture, and date will support research and teaching efforts by university faculty, students, outside scholars, and the general public. Prioritizing conservation treatment will ultimately increase access to more of the museum's sculpture through public display and loans to other institutions.
