The University of California Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA) will conduct a general conservation survey of its art and film collections as well as its current collections storage facilities. BAM/PFA's collection includes more than 16,000 works of art, representing a diversity of global cultures and historical periods, and 14,000 films and videos. This comprehensive assessment is an important part of planning for the museum's move of its collections into a new building and an improved off-site storage facility. The survey will help prioritize conservation treatment needs, develop an updated collection management plan, a strategic building move plan, and a fundraising plan for storage improvements and conservation treatments.
