Anchorage Museum

The Anchorage Museum will use grant funds to conduct a detailed conservation survey of the ethnographic and historic objects on exhibit in its Alaska Gallery to assess the overall physical condition of this collection, identify treatment needs for each object, prioritize needs and estimate treatment costs, and evaluate the long-term effects of display on the condition of objects. The museum will bring professionals from smaller institutions around the state for training about conservation surveys and the importance of high-quality exhibition materials. Visitors to the museum will be able to observe the survey work in progress through an observation window around the work area.
