Note: (a) denotes an amendment made outside of the original awardThe Foundation for Advancement in Conservation (FAIC) proposes to offer conservation assessments, for both collections and structures, to approximately 300 museums over a three-year period. The Collections Assessment for Preservation (CAP) program will build on the success of the program which has been in existence for 24 years. Key elements include providing two-person teams to assess collections and buildings, regardless of the age of the structures; linking museums to training and other resources as needed; structured follow-up sessions with museums and assessors nine to twelve months after the assessment; training for assessors; and provision for rapid approval of assessments following emergencies.
Amendment 2022: $1,000,000 in additional funds were awarded in 2022 to support the provision of conservation assessments to approximately 100 museums during the second year of the project.
Amendment 2024: $728,016 in additional funds were awarded in 2024 to support the provision of conservation assessments to approximately 66 additional museums as well as increased outreach efforts to culturally focused museums.
