Washington County Museum of Fine Arts

Log Number: ARPML-250942-OMLS-22

Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, Maryland, will build an augmented reality platform and an engaging outreach curriculum for young learners at home, in childcare, in the classroom, or at the museum. This project will bring underrepresented stories and art to students who may not have had access to the museum’s culturally inclusive collection—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic—through fun “missions,” deep thinking scavenger hunts, and peer-collaborative virtual games. These opportunities will incentivize young learners to visit the museum and interact with art in a manner that is as educational as it is entertaining. This project will contribute to the wellbeing of families, nonprofit groups, children, and families, particularly during recovery from the pandemic. The museum will invite community stakeholders to pilot the project and collect results, and informal evaluation and participant surveys will guide the project’s progress.
