The University Libraries at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) and the Colorado State University Pueblo (CSU Pueblo) University Library will provide technology assistance to students at two campuses to help improve retention and student success. The libraries will provide laptops and hotspots to low-income students and students who are veterans at the CU Boulder and CSU Pueblo. Each institution will collaborate with the information technology and student affairs departments to implement the program. By providing personal computers to undergraduate students who are otherwise unable to afford them, the libraries will address the inequity in access to technology, an increasingly important factor because many textbooks are only available in an electronic format and coursework must be completed online. This need became even more evident during the pandemic, when many higher education institutions moved to hybrid or fully remote learning models.
