Houston Public Library
Log Number: ARPML-250908-OMLS-22
The Houston Public Library in Texas will preserve and promote legacy oral history recordings identified as relevant to the history of the city. The library also will collect new recordings that document the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on race and social justice. Preservation efforts for existing collections will include converting them to more stable audiovisual formats and migrating them to an updated platform that is easily accessible online. The museum will expand its oral history collection by gathering new stories that tell the living history of Houston’s prominent and culturally significant community members and document their socially relevant actions for future generations.
