Historic New England will hire a curatorial fellow to assist staff in developing a new collecting plan to amplify marginalized voices and represent a complete history of the region. To inform the institution’s new collecting plan, the fellow will identify community partners across the region, who will be offered stipends to participate in collaborative meetings focused on different themes, including indigenous history, Black history, and LGBTQ+ history. Additionally, the fellow will research marginalized and suppressed stories within the existing collections; catalogue and digitize “A Time to Remember,” Historic New England's COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter collecting initiative; and write blog posts showcasing stories in the collections. This project is part of a larger organizational initiative, “Recovering New England's Voices,” which researches and shares marginalized and suppressed stories across the region.
