Athens Regional Library System

The Athens Regional Library System will install audio streaming over Wi-Fi and Radio Frequency Assisted Listening Systems (ALS) to make their programs accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Hearing loop technology will be installed across the System’s library buildings to enable streaming audio for public meetings, children’s storytimes, and computer courses. Library users will be able to access the ALS in multiple ways, including through an app on their smartphone or a ListenRF device provided by the library. The ALS installation will allow for equitable access to library programming for the 3.4% of the regional population that reports hearing difficulties.
