Bexar County (BiblioTech Digital Public Library)

BiblioTech, a digital public library in San Antonio, Texas, will partner with Libraries Without Borders US to expand its Wash and Learn Initiative, which provides literacy programming and information services inside laundromats and makes library services accessible for low-income community members with demanding work schedules. The initiative will have 63 laptops and service for 63 Wi-Fi hotspots available for adult learners and youth. By expanding laundromat offerings to include distribution and sharing of devices, the full array of public library resources, including internet connectivity, will be more accessible for those who are unable to travel to one of BiblioTech’s three major library branches. This program supports the library’s ongoing work to address the digital divide in Bexar County, which was exacerbated by COVID-19, and to create a new library model for a post-pandemic world.
