The National WWI Museum and Memorial, in Kansas City, Missouri, will develop the Global Education Initiative: Digitization, a digital education initiative using primary source materials from its collection to create and update content supporting on-site and online exhibitions for 2022 and 2023. This content also will be available on the museum’s website and featured within supportive interpretive materials. Museum staff will scan, digitize, and catalogue at least 150 object records each month, write two articles to accompany each exhibition, and present two online learning resources that incorporate digitized materials. Through this project, The National WWI Museum and Memorial will increase its capabilities as a center for learning and research, including engaging new and more diverse global audiences through effectively implementing digital technology and primary source interpretation while helping the institution overcome the economic impact of closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
