University of Texas at El Paso (Rubin Center for the Visual Arts)

The Rubin Center for the Visual Arts at the University of Texas at El Paso will expand its internship program for undergraduate students in support of emerging museum professionals. Working with an outside evaluator and an advisory committee consisting of former Rubin Center interns, the museum team will undertake a robust review of the 15 year-old program. Project activities will include deploying a yearly recruitment plan and matching students with an internship aligned to their learning objectives. Project funds will support six paid undergraduate positions, travel to a regional partner museum site, and a series of speakers featuring Latino museum professionals. The outcome of the project will result in the publication of an evidence-based evaluation on the efforts and impact of internships for emerging museum professionals.
