By Kevin O'Connell, IMLS Writer-Editor At a convening of IMLS National Leadership Grant (NLG) museum recipients in April, I spoke with several people about their NLG-funded projects. We will periodically post a video from this collection here on UpNext and on the IMLS YouTube channel. In this interview, researchers from the San Diego Zoo and the Memphis Zoo talk about their NLG-funded projects, both of which involve the preservation of certain species of amphibians. The extinction they're working to avoid has been said to be on the scale of the loss of the dinosaurs. Beyond its ecological importance, the work being done by these two zoos has economic and health implications for humans as well.
