The IMLS Office of Communications and Public Liaison (OCPL) leads strategic communications for the Institute, supporting timely and accurate communications and engaging diverse audiences/partners across the United States and its Territories.

OCPL recognizes that the communications landscape is rapidly changing, and new strategies are critical to disseminate the program news, latest research, and updates to reach diverse audiences. OCPL oversees IMLS’s enterprise communications and supporting its leaders and oversees communications on programs and activities to the public, the media, and stakeholder communities.

OCPL provides IMLS employees and external partners a communications and outreach capability that promotes understanding of the agency’s mission and goals, promotes two-way dialogue, builds relationships with professional community, government agencies, businesses, and groups. OCPL also develops and implements enterprise-level campaigns, to build awareness and understanding of IMLS’s and the institutions its supports roles today.
