Salazar
Ramiro S. Salazar was appointed the Director of the San Antonio Public Library in April 2005 and served the San Antonio community for 19 years. Salazar retired from the San Antonio Public Library and the City of San Antonio in 2024. During his tenure at the San Antonio Public Library, Salazar was responsible for the delivery of library services to over two million residents in San Antonio and Bexar County, Texas. He provided management oversight for a library system encompassing 30 library locations. Salazar is a former President of the Public Library Association and currently serves on the Public Library Section of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. Before joining the San Antonio Public Library, Salazar served as Interim Assistant City Manager for the City of Dallas, Texas. Prior to that, he served for 12 years as the Director of the Dallas Public Library system. He also served as Director of Libraries for the El Paso Public Library, City of El Paso, Texas, for three years. Salazar plans to remain active in the library profession.
