Public Libraries in the United States Survey: Fiscal Year 2010
The Public Libraries in the United States Survey report analyzes data supplied annually by over 98% of public libraries across the country. This year’s report features nine performance indicators and examines differences in library service at the locality levels (city, suburb, town, rural and national).

Evaluation of the NCES State Library Agencies Survey
This report evaluates selected fiscal data collected on NCES's State Library Agencies Survey. The evaluation had two objectives: (1) to check for duplication of fiscal data collected on this survey with compliance data collected on the Annual Financial and Performance Report forms of the Office of Library Programs, a former agency of the U.S. Department of Education, and (2) to analyze selected definitions of fiscal items on the survey. How Does Your Public Library Compare’ Service Performance of Peer Groups
The report categorized almost 9,000 public libraries into peer groups based on size of population of the legal service area and total operating expenditures. Then, comparisons of service performance were made, based on 5 input variables and 7 output variables. The input variables included public library service hours per year, total librarians, total ALA-MLS librarians, total number ofsubscriptions, and total number of books and serials.
