MEDIA ADVISORY: Event to Recognize Museum Recipients of Nearly $30 Million in IMLS Grants
Workshop and ceremony highlights federal funding for hundreds of museum projects
This year, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has made 244 awards to hundreds of museums across the nation totaling nearly $30 million. IMLS will host a congressional workshop and ceremony to recognize 2013 IMLS museum grantees. Representative Paul Tonko and invited members of Congress will join IMLS Director Susan Hildreth to highlight successful applicants and the IMLS-funded projects that are benefitting their communities.
What: IMLS grants strengthen a museum’s ability to advance lifelong learning, build strong communities through civic engagement, and facilitate the discovery of knowledge through exemplary museum stewardship. Members of the press are invited for a one-hour presentation showcasing funded projects and for a reception afterwards.
IMLS grantees from across the country have been invited and will be recognized.
