ALU LIKE, Inc. will maintain and expand the traditional and digital library services of the Native Hawaiian Library (NHL). Specific activities include maintaining the four branches of the Native Hawaiian Library network; continuing NHL's programs and special community events, such as the Summer Reading Books by Mail program and the annual Literacy Fair; and, conducting workshops on accessing the digital library resources of Ulukau, the Hawaiian Electronic Library. In addition, NHL will sponsor Native Hawaiian library school students as interns in order to foster their interest in pursuing a library career, particularly one directly serving the Native Hawaiian community. Over the course of the grant, NHL will recruit and supervise six interns at the NHL main branch and satellite sites as well as at Ulukau, which will be in partnership with the University of Hawaii-Hilo Hale Kuamo'o.
