The Medweganoonind Library, which serves as both an academic and public library for the Red Lake Nation, will establish its first digital library collection and device-lending program. In order to make digital content available to community members, the library will purchase 1,800–2,000 digital titles as well as 20 eReaders for lending. Library staff can pre-load an individual's selections onto the device prior to regular or curbside pickup, and they also will train new users to use the devices. These new resources will enable the Medweganoonind Library to reach patrons who are unable to visit the library frequently due to mobility issues, lack of transportation, inclement weather, or health-related emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
