The Migizi Cultural Resource Center is the cultural repository of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Chippewa. It seeks to accomplish two objectives. The first is to implement a series of public programs for all age groups based on the four seasons. Examples of activities are berry picking and weaving (summer); harvesting wild rice and hide tanning (fall); snowshoe making and ice fishing (winter); basket making and collecting maple sugar (spring). The second objective is to partner with the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa's K-12 school and develop curriculums that will instill cultural identity and pride. Activities will include creating a family tree and a hands-on ethnobotany display of local plants used for cooking and medicinal purposes.
